Silvio Vigliaturo (1949-) was born in Acri, in the Calabria region of southern Italy.
From his first exhibitions in 1977, to his most recent participation in the Italian Pavilion at the 54th Venice Biennale in 2011, and his major solo show at Turin's Regional Museum of Natural Sciences in 2012, Vigliaturo's artistic career has been marked by constant evolution. In 2006, Vigliaturo was named artistic witness to the XX Winter Olympic Games held in Turin. In the same year, the municipality of Acri dedicated a museum to him - the MACA (Acri Museum of Contemporary Art) - which houses an important permanent collection of his work. In 2010, he was named Calabria's artistic witness at Expo Shanghai. In early 2013, he took part in the Contemporary Glass Sculpture exhibition at the Orlando Museum of Art, featuring works by the world's leading glass artists, celebrating the first fifty years of Studio Glass.
